T-shirts for Equal Education

Buy a shirt, send some love

Look cool and spread some love to a child with disability. For every funky IDPD designer shirt 100% of the profit will go to purchasing educational equipment for children with disability. These shirts will be launched at the Morija Arts and Cultural Festival 26-30 September.

So, for only M100 you get a cool t-shirt, a present for a kid with disability and a warm mushy feeling in your heart. It's a bargain!

The problem

It is estimated that 140 million of the world's children are out of school, of whom the majority are girls and children with disabilities. 80% of these live in Africa. In Lesotho, children with disability aged 5-10 are twice as likely to be out of school as their non-disabled counterparts. In the age group 11-20, they are seven times less likely to go to school.

Of the children that are enrolled in school, many aren't able to access the same level of education as their classmates as they may not have the right equipment or assistance. Simple equipment such as a braille stylus would enable a visually impaired child to write their own notes and do their homework, for example. Ramps to the classroom could allow a physically disabled child to access an education. You can make a big difference to a child's education by buying a Disability Awareness T-shirt.

How it works

Thanks to our generous partners Australian Volunteers International and AusAid, we've been able to get a very generous discount on these t-shirts. This means that we can use almost 100% of the money you pay for a t-shirt to purchase educational aids and equipment for children with disability. So... You get a cool t-shirt and child somewhere in Lesotho gets an education. It's a win win situation!

Where will your money go?

We contacted Thuso e Tla Tsoa Kae, Phelisanong and St Bernadettes Resource Centre for the Blind, three wonderful schools for children with disability, and asked them to produce a "wishlist" of equipment for their students. The profits from your t-shirt purchase will be going to make these wishes come true.

Click here to view the wishlist and see how far your Maluti can stretch.

Looking cool has never felt this good

There are two cool t-shirt designs to choose from. Nothing About Us Without Us is a graffiti print design in the shape of Africa, the mother-land. Together We Achieve More depicts the slogan in Sesotho signlanguage.

These shirts are available in men's and women's and children's styles in small, medium and large. Colours include dark blue, light blue, red, green and beige.

Shirts retail at only M100 per shirt.

Where do I get my shirt?

To order or try on a shirt, call us on 2232 0345. Shirts will be available at the LNFOD office and also at selected events/outlets prior to International Day of Persons With Disability (3 December 2012).

Stocks are limited so we suggest jumping in now.
