It was in December 2013 when Neo was involved in an accident while seated at the wing of the tractor. Immediately after the occurrence of the accident, he was quickly referred to Queen `Mamohato Hospital where his arms were surgically amputated.  It was such a terrific experience that Neo faced.  After treatment from the hospital, he went through a number of counselling sessions and was finally referred to my office for advice on what should be done to make him go back to school and proceed with his studies. That is where I trained him to learn how to write with a mouth.

He was also assessed by other specialists such as the Orthopedic technician Mr Chabeli Mohatlane who voluntarily visited him at his home to do an assessment. The plan was to refer Neo to the Specialists who can make artificial limbs for him in South Africa, but that has never worked. Mr Mohatlane tried everything in his power to get artificial limbs for Neo but till today, Neo is still waiting.   A quotation amounting to R100, 000.00 for provision of a set of artificial limbs was done but unfortunately up to now, nothing has happened because we were told that the amputation is very critical and it is only in Germany where appropriate artificial limbs can be made. It is in this regard that I decided to consult Edit Microsystems Company to advise us on how this boy can be assisted so that he continues with his studies without using a mouth.

When the specialist was trying to see if there could be any chance of making the artificial limbs for him. However, that seemed to be impossible as confirmed by the referrals from Lesotho and South Africa due to lack of medical expertise. We were told that it is only in Germany where such an operation could be done.
The disability did not stop him from attending school. His mouth can hold a pencil and write in the same way as how we use our hands. In (2016), he managed to complete his Junior Certificate and obtained second class. He was then given a perseverance award during the 2017 award giving ceremony of 2017 by the Leribe Education office. The office appreciated his efforts of not giving up even after having lost both of his limbs.
However, irrespective of many challenges, he participates in different activities like other students. He is a rapper and very talented in singing.  As the Ministry, we thank his school mates for the continuous support they voluntarily offer such as feeding him, carrying his books, washing his basin, catering for his toiletry needs.
We also appreciate the support from the Principal, the staff and the students of `Makhethisa High school for the role they have played in assisting Neo with his studies.
This year Neo is doing a final year (grade 12) and arrangements have to be put in place before exams resume.  If he obtains good results at the end of the year, he will be transiting to the higher institutions of learning next year God`s willing.
Anyone who is willing to support this boy can contact me at this number: +266 56031197. Neo has to go to Cape Town for assessment at the centre called Edit technologies for provision of a device that is used by people whose hands are dysfunctional, and we need funding to pay for transport and  accommodation, as well as payment for  the device that would suite him, such as the one shown in the picture below. It is called glassOuse.

By the grace of God the device has been fully paid by Ramela and associate. However, we still need funding for transport and accommodation to Cape Town where assessment has to be done.

We also need to buy him a computer which works compatibly with that device.
